The Mighty Oak
There are about 500 species of oak, they exist as shrubs or trees in different parts of the world. Oak wood has a density of 0.43 oz/cu inch, which means it is really dense and gives it its well-known properties, strength and hardness. Oak is also resistant to insect and fungal attacks due to its high tannin content, which makes them ideal for construction use especially in the Viking era.
The acorn is the nut of the oaks and usually contains one seed enclosed in a tough leathery shell. The word acorn comes from a Gothic term meaning "fruit of the unenclosed land", which is the oak.
The glass votive base shows three golden oak trees and the ornaments are golden acorns that spin when a lighted tealight is placed inside the glass votive.
